Company History
Discover the exciting story of La Maison du Bleuet, a thriving business that has reinvented itself over the decades. Founded in 1987 by Esther and Lucie Cayouette, the company began modestly under the name Fleuriste et Cadeaux EL Cayouette, on Notre-Dame Street in Saint-Félicien. This small local business quickly made a name for itself thanks to its creativity and the quality of its products.
In 1999, La Maison du Bleuet took a decisive turn by expanding its focus to include the tourism component. It was at this time that the company decided to focus on the transformation of delicious wild blueberries and chocolate. Success was immediate, and the demand for these unique products continued to grow. La Maison du Bleuet even began to sell its homemade creations to other stores, thus strengthening its presence on the market.
In 2009, Marc Cayouette joined the company and brought with him an ambitious vision for the future of La Maison du Bleuet. He committed to revamping the brand’s image and expanding its product offering. After years of hard work, Marc finally acquired his aunt Lucie Cayouette’s shares of the company in 2018, becoming the majority co-owner with his mother, Esther Cayouette.
However, in December 2019, a major fire disrupted La Maison du Bleuet’s plans and forced it to quickly rethink its expansion plans. Determined to overcome this ordeal, the company moved to the city’s entrance, quadrupling its size to continue production. This move was a turning point for the company, allowing it to have the space it needed to meet the growing demand for its products.
Today, La Maison du Bleuet offers a wide range of products in its sales catalogue. Its physical store in Saint-Félicien is a true oasis for local and tourist customers. It offers all the products made by La Maison du Bleuet, such as jams and chocolates, as well as gift items from various companies in Quebec and elsewhere. Body products, food, clothing, jewelry, accessories, decoration and kitchen items are part of the store's varied offering.
But La Maison du Bleuet is not limited to its physical store. It also has a manufacturing and wholesale plant, specializing in the production of jams, jellies, syrups, fine chocolates and much more. In addition to satisfying its Canadian clientele, the company also offers a subcontracting service to companies that wish to benefit from its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities.
With nearly 400 points of sale across Canada in 2023, La Maison du Bleuet has become a major player in the agri-food industry. Its commitment to quality, innovation and customer experience is reflected in every product it offers. Thanks to its rich history and its ability to reinvent itself, this family business has won the hearts of consumers, both local and tourist.
